Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Has Deep Roots in Chiropractic
Chiropractic In The NFL
“Performing at my best is important to me and should be to everyone. I am blessed that my dad is a chiropractor. Getting adjusted regularly – along with practicing other good health habits that my mom helped me to establish – are all part of my goal to win in life and on the field.”
– Aaron Rodgers
Behind almost every great athlete is a chiropractor, and in no sport is that more true than the National Football League. Football has long been America’s most popular sport – but it’s also one of its most dangerous. Make no mistake: the NFL is a physical business. From the earliest years of contact games, football players’ bodies are subject to structural stress that Doctors of Chiropractic are specially trained to care for. That’s a big reason why every single NFL organization employs sports chiropractors as an essential part of their strength/conditioning and rehabilitation teams.
The tremendous need for chiropractic care in the NFL has been driven not simply by injury rehabilitation but by players’ desire for peak physical conditioning as well. Both before and after games, chiropractic treatment can enhance flexibility, range of motion, structural alignment and biomechanics, ensuring that the athlete’s body will function at its highest possible level and be able to recover quickly.
A growing body of research supports chiropractic’s integral role in optimizing pro athletes’ athletic performance. A recent study published in the Journal of Chiropractic Research and Clinical Investigation tested 50 athletes for agility, balance, kinesthetic perception, power and reaction time before and after receiving 6 weeks of chiropractic treatment. The athletes were split into two groups, with one group receiving chiropractic adjustments and the other left as a control group. The researchers found that the group receiving regular chiropractic care had an average 30% improvement over the group not under chiropractic care.
Aaron Rodgers’ Trust In Chiropractic Care Goes Deep
The chiropractor that’s been keeping Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers well-adjusted since the day he started playing football just so happens to be his dad, Dr. Ed Rodgers, who specializes in treating sports-related injuries in Chico, California. The 2011 NFL MVP understands the importance chiropractic care can have on his health and ability to perform at his highest level.
In fact, following his team-record-breaking performance throwing for 480 yards against the Washington Redskins two seasons ago, Rodgers made it a point to specifically thank his chiropractor. During the post-game press conference, in response to being asked if he was feeling “in the zone” before the game, Rodgers mentioned that his neck was causing his significant pain and that his ability to go out and perform was in part due his chiropractor and the rest of the training staff.
Not Just Aaron Rodgers
Rodgers isn’t the only NFL superstar to come out publicly about how important chiropractic is to his game, either:
“As long as I see my chiropractor, I feel like I’m one step ahead of the game.”
– Tom Brady“I always see [my chiropractor] on game day to get my body balanced, flexible and ready for action. I see him several times a week for rehab and to recover faster from the last game.”
– Marques Colston“I look at chiropractic care as important to keeping me healthy and at the top of my game.”
– Reggie Bush“Not only did my chiropractor get me back on the field, but he helped me to stay on the field. My body just feels much better overall because of the care I’ve gotten.”
– Lance Moore

Thanks for sharing the importance of physical rehabilitation in sport. You brought up a couple very important points: 1. that physical rehabilitation is important to improve performance and 2. physical sports mean more injuries and it’s important to stay ahead of injuries through physical rehabilitation.
As a physiotherapist, I work very closely with a chiropractor. Nowadays both these professions have a lot of overlap and we always seem to get to the same end point but our approach and the way we clinically reason differs. In the end, our goal is the same and we want to improve mobility, function and performance of our clients!
Nice deep roots:) Thanks
Our family loves chiropractic care! Thx for all you do.
