Keeping Kids Healthy & Growing Strong With Chiropractic Care!
Pro-Active Pediatric Chiropractic Care
One of the greatest rewards of serving the Brookfield, New Berlin & Wauwatosa communities at Ascent Chiropractic is seeing our pediatric patients grow and develop into healthy, optimally-functioning kids. Ascent Chiropractic was opened with the goal of not only serving the sick and suffering, but to see to it that our patients have children that are allowed reach their maximized health potential. You see, while many people will wait until a crisis occurs before health becomes a priority, at Ascent Chiropractic in Brookfield we believe in being proactive instead of reactive.
The Birthing Process
It’s common knowledge that the first trauma to your spine is likely to occur during birth, as the birth process puts a great amount of strain on an infant’s neck (even with natural methods of childbirth). This commonly leads to misalignment of the small bones of the spine, putting pressure on nerves and resulting in the loss of communication between the brain and spinal cord and the rest of the body.
Even if the newborn’s spine is uninjured by the birthing process, the inevitable tumbles and falls of early childhood increase the risk of injury to the spine, potentially compromising nervous system function and leading to serious health problems, including chronic inner ear infections, respiratory disorders, digestive dysfunction, poor sleeping habits, colic, decreased immunity, poor appetite and other problems.
That’s why, at Ascent Chiropractic, we like to take a pro-active approach to pediatric spine care with regular spinal checkups to keep our young patients’ nervous systems functioning optimally by correcting misalignments in the spine before they become a problem. Dr. Grant Radermacher is specially qualified to care for pediatric patients, as his gentle, low-force adjusting technique can be modified to fit the patient.
Pediatric Chiropractic Care
So we were delighted when one of our long-time patients brought his wife and their week-old twins in for their first spinal check-up this week. We began the visit with a thorough discussion of chiropractic pediatrics and a clear understanding of the goals of the visit. The bottom line is that the nervous system is the body’s master control system and needs to communicate with every cell, tissue and organ of those infants’ bodies for the full expression of health and development. Any inflammation or misalignment along the spine will affect the nervous system and hinder this communication. So the goal is to analyze the spine and gently correct any misalignments that may cause interference along the nervous system. This process looks and feels dramatically different for an infant than it does with an adult.
After gently examining both infants through light palpation and basic range of motion tests, it was clear that one fussy infant did not want to turn or flex his head to the left. Mom had also mentioned that the infant had difficulty breast-feeding on one side. It was clear why: the joint between the occiput and the top vertebra in the infant’s neck was swollen and not moving properly. So a very light, GENTLE (no popping or cracking!) and specific adjustment was made. As the correction was made, the muscles in his face instantly relaxed and the crying subsided as the infant came to rest quietly in a position that was quite obviously painful just a few moments ago.
This is a BIG DEAL for the infant and his mother. Better spine function means better feeding, nutrition, immunity and growth for the baby and more sleep for mom… along with numerous other benefits!

I think a lot of people underestimate how far a good chiropractor can go! I have only heard of a couple people taking their children to chiropractors, but that’s an awesome story. I love all the benefits you mention for both the child and the parents, including sleep! 😉 Thanks for sharing, I’ll definitely have to spread the word.
Reading this makes me wonder whether colic could also be due to misalignments.
Amazing. I did not know that chiropractics are good for babies too! I am quite hesitant to try but its definitely one of my goals this year now! Thanks for the enlightenment..
Wow, never knew chiropractics has so many benefits for kids too. Thank you for this informative post.
I’ve been totally pro-chiro since my chiro and physiotherapy sessions in Toronto at the Athletic Edge Sports Medicine facility there. Never knew chiro was good for kids though. I thought it was just for pain and muscle problems. Will be sure to try it out as I venture into the parenting zone.
Appreciate the info. I have no idea that chiro can be beneficial to infants as well. If it’s for wellness, why the heck not. Thank you for sharing, will share the info.
Wow, lol I didn’t know they would send their children at an age like this to the chiropractor, but I guess it’s a benefit.
Love the photo of the baby – that’s just adorable. 😉
Chiropractic medication is not known to many and so does its benefits. This post is highlighting the enjoy a doctor experiences when a patient leaves after treating well with Chiropractic.

Let me thank you for publishing this, too. I have two kids myself. Thankfully, they are very healthy, but it never hurts to know.
