The Doctors: That Pain Might Not Be What You Think!
Treating The Cause Instead Of The Effects
Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker Chiropractic University, recently appeared on an episode of the popular daytime tv show The Doctors to discuss how “that pain might not be what you think,” emphasizing the chiropractic philosophy of treating the cause, not just the symptoms. What happens one part of the body can affect other parts of the body, and pain in one area can actually be caused by a problem somewhere else.
Dr. Mancini explained that what makes chiropractic unique is that DCs “look for the cause of the problem, not simply managing the pain.” Chiropractors are trained to identify misalignments within the spine and then correct those misalignments. Dr. Fabrizio went on to explain how the patient suffering from chronic low back pain featured on the show was being affected by misalignments in the spine in addition to various environmental stressors that were playing a role in his symptoms. For example, she was constantly traveling and had been in a prior car accident (physical stress); she was consuming too much sugar in his diet, stressing the nervous system and causing inflammation (chemical stress); and the stress of starting a new business was causing tension in his muscles (emotional stress).
The Chiropractic Advantage
Dr. Fabrizio showed how he was able to correct the joint dysfunction, giving her the relief that she has now. The cause of the pain was not necessarily his back. In fact, he found that his chronic low back pain was primarily coming from his upper back and neck and some of these other stressors.
“Chiropractic care has been proven to restore the quality of life in so many patients and it is my mission to continue sharing its benefits with as many individuals as possible,” said Dr. Mancini.
The patient herself may have said it best when Dr. Stork asked his how she was doing. Her enthusiastic response: “I have never felt so good … I feel like I am a new person and I can’t wait to see what will happen going forward!”
