Research Proves: Chiropractic Care More Effective Than Anti-Inflammatory Meds For Back Pain

Research Proves: Chiropractic Care More Effective Than Anti-Inflammatory Meds For Back Pain

Diclofenac vs. Chiropractic Care For Back Pain

Researchers from Spine Journal recently concluded a ground-breaking study that showed astounding results when comparing chiropractic adjustments against Diclofenac, one of the most popular and commonly-prescribed anti-inflammatory medications available.

The researchers essentially pitted chiropractic manipulative treatment (adjustments) directly against diclofenac and placebo in a double-blind comparison of their effectiveness in treating low back pain.

The researchers came to three hard-hitting conclusions:

  1. This is the first time that spinal manipulation was investigated in a double-blinded randomized controlled design showing clear superiority compared with placebo and NSAIDs.
  2. HVLA manipulation CAN be recommended for the therapeutic treatment of acute low back pain.
  3. Final evaluation showed manipulation being significantly better than NSAIDs and clinically superior to placebo.

Furthermore, when the researchers looked at the number of individuals that found complete relief from their low back pain, there were twice as many patients in the chiropractic treatment group finding complete relief vs. the diclofenac group. Additionally, the number of patients in the chiropractic group whose condition deteriorated was zero, while just as many patients in the diclofenac group had their condition deteriorate.

It’s undeniable evidence that chiropractic comes through head and shoulders above one of the primary avenues of treatment in mainstream medicine’s management of low back pain.

The Bottom Line

Diclofenac is prescribed to millions of back pain patients every single day, but chiropractic care, especially the low-force soft-tissue-based techniques we use at Ascent Chiropractic, have been shown time and time again to be just as effective if not more effective than anti-inflammatory drugs in completely eliminating low back pain.

What’s more, chiropractic care for low back pain avoids almost all the side effects that come with NSAID’s and is safe for every population of patient, even those with cardiac problems who can’t take anti-inflammatory medications. You have nicely describe chiropractic care. Back pain is a common problem for all bikers and those who spend a lot of time in a single chair.

A good Chiropractor is worth their weight in gold. I was finally able to find a great doctor who actually fixed my chronic neck pain. After 2 visits he gave me a list of exercises to do at home. 7 months later still no pain and have not had to go back to his office.

Really informative article. Lower back pain is a common problem but side effects of back pain treatments are not known to many.

Feet are easy to ignore, especially in cooler months when they’re often in closed-toe shoes or boots. But a little attention can go a long way toward comfort, Make sure you cut toenails straight across” to avoid ingrown nails. Moisturize dry skin on the foot when it’s cracked to keep feet comfortable, and to help ward off infections when bacteria enter through cracked skin.
